Hanging Around

Susan sat in the Gryffindor tower, with a book open. Susan wasn't alone often, so she couldn't deal with it. She pulled her wand out of her bag. Perfect time to practice for Charms class., she said.

She looked in her bag for a target. Finally, she found one. It was a piece of paper. She pointed her wand at the piece of paper, and said, "Wingardium Leviosa!"

The paper rose into the air! "Come on, get down now! This is going to take a while., Susan said, trying to grab at the paper. "

Arya ran up the last few steps to Gryffindor Tower, gave the password, and entered the common room. After a long day, it would be nice to relax by the fire. She'd just spent the past two hours practicing at her flying. 

"Hello there, Alyn," she greeted a friend. 

She was just about to sit down at his table when something caught her eye. Susan Eastwood was jumping around like a maniac. But why? 

"Ohhhh..." Arya said as the realization dawned on her. She was trying to catch her paper. Arry ran over. "Try throwing something on it! A cloak, maybe, or a sock."

Okay. Susan threw the book she was reading at the paper. The book stayed on the paper as it flew.

Now what? Wait, hold on a second., Susan said.
She pointed her wand at the piece of paper and said,"Carpe Retractum!" The paper and the book fell to the ground in an instant.

"Well, there you have it then," Arya clapped, watching the fiasco. 

She couldn't help but wonder how Susan knew the charm. They hadn't learned it yet in class.. Then again, Arry was a muggleborn. Perhaps it was a spell everyone in the wizarding world knew. 

"So, are you muggleborn?" she asked curiously, sitting down in a cushy armchair. "Or have you just grown up with magic?"

Susan was not the kind of person to talk about her family a lot. Arry was probably the only person she would talk about herself to.  
   
"I'm half-blood. My mother uses the charm all the time.", Susan said.  

Susan played with her hair, hoping Arry wouldn't ask another question.                  

"So, what are your hobbies?, she asked Arry.
