With it being Chirstmas break, the students didn't have any classes. For the first few days, it was fun, roaming the halls, discovering new things. But, now, Marigold was bored. Utterly bored. She sat in common room, reading another book on healing. Healer of the Heart. Marigold seemed to noticed that all these books had the word 'heart' in it. It was true. Healing people took a lot of heart.
Gavin and Peyton were by the window, which had a thin line of snow lining the ledge. They were playing a game, with Seamus watching. Occasionally, one of them would yell in frustration as a mini explosion is heard. Marigold finally had enough and went over to see what they were going on about.
"Boys, some people are trying to read."Marigold informed them. Seamus shrugged, engrossed in the game.
"Sorry. I can't let Peyton win."Gavin said, moving his bishop.
"Chess? All of you are making such a fuss over a chess game?"Marigold asked, pulling up a chair.
"This is ordinary chess."Peyton said, as he moved his knight next to the bishop. The horse trampled the bishop.
"It's wizard chess."Gavin said with a groan. He ran his hands through hair and went to think about his next move. Marigold was now excited. She was decent at chess, beating Lady Lyra a number of times.
"You know chess?"Seamus said excitedly. He was looking for someone to beat.
"The basics. Knight moves in an L, bishop moves diagonally, queen moves anywhere, king can move in any direction but only one square, rook can move forward, backward, or back and forth, and the pawn can move forward and diagonally when attacking."Marigold said quickly.
"Excellent! We have next game then!"Seamus said excitedly.
