- We are here to help you. Expect constructive criticism, meaning if you ask, we will tell you the truth, or if we see that your posting skills really need help, we will give you advice. Of course, we will do this politely.
-Posts should not be sloppy. If your character is going to say something, start a new line with the quote, and start another line after the quote. As we probably all learned in English classes (or writing classes, etc) you should skip a line between each paragraph or quote.
- Please make sure your quotes are
bold if your character is saying something,
italicized if your character is thinking.
- Each character must start as an
eleven year old first year.
- Just as no person is perfect, neither is any character. Your character
MUST be believable. No special powers, no horribly dark past, no outrageous Hermione-esque smarts, especially if you're muggleborn. A perfectly normal witch or wizard.
- Social Status: The highest rank your character can be is noble. Your character may not be royalty; no princesses or princes.
- You may not God-Mode. This means you cannot write another character's actions. EXAMPLE of God-Moding: "Suddenly, she threw the rock and it hit (insert character name here)'s head, causing (character) to fall down." Now, here's the way this should be written: "Suddenly, she threw the rock and watched.." The other character will pick it up from there.
- Posts are all done in the third person, no "I did" or "I walk", etc. Posts are also done in past tense. No "She walks", it should be "She walked".
- For those of you who are new at this, I suggest you take a look at posts that have already been made. Posts are like stories; you write part of it, and other "players" (as members are called) add on to it. A good story doesn't go like this: "Jimmy unlocked the door and walked outside. He walked down the street. He tripped and fell." A good story has detail, and lots of it. "Jimmy quickly unlocked the door, pushed it open, and stepped hesitantly outside into the cold, damp air. He walked down the empty street, keeping an eye out for suspicious activity. Suddenly, he tripped over something that wasn't there a moment ago and fell flat onto his face."
- Please note that, as we are in the 14th century, none of the Harry Potter characters exist. You are not to refer to or use the name or back story of any of these characters.
- Be polite and friendly in the chatbox. It's an easy way to get to know your fellow "classmates" (it's OOC, Out of Character) which certainly helps when planning a topic with other characters.
- A couple facts about the 14th century: We are currently in the beginnings of the War of the Roses, and the
end of the first wave of the Black Death!
